Petersburg, VA Van Driver Causes Bus Accident on I-85 | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A Petersburg, Virginia (VA), woman was charged with reckless driving by Virginia State Police after she collided with a Greyhound bus carrying 35 passengers on I-85 on September 7, 2011.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, 27-year-old Quinnetta Williams was driving a large Ford van near the Squirrel Level Road exit and the 61st mile marker when traffic slowed ahead of her. She attempted to switch into the right lane to avoid an accident, but collided with a Greyhound bus in that lane.

Williams and 10 people in the van she was driving suffered injuries in the Virginia bus accident, while 3 of the 35 passengers on the bus also required treatment for injuries. The traffic accident victims were taken to Southside Regional Medical Center for treatment. Both the Virginia State Police and the Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the case. It is not clear if further charges will follow.
