Truck Driver Killed in Fiery Fairfax County Tanker Truck Crash on I-95 | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Emergency responders and local authorities were called to the scene of a one-vehicle Virginia truck accident in the early morning hours of Wednesday morning, August 29, 2012. The crash involved a rolled tanker truck on Interstate 95 North and resulted in fatal injuries for the truck’s driver.

According to the Associated Press and local Virginia news sources, the fatal tanker truck accident was reported at around 2:15 in the morning at the intersection of I-95 North and Fairfax County Parkway. When first responders reached the scene, they found the commercial truck on its side, with its 9,000 gallons of fuel on fire. The emergency workers found the body of the trucker, 59-year-old Edwin H. Hall of Charles Town, West Virginia, in the cab of the truck.

The Virginia State Police and the Fairfax County Fire Department responded to the deadly tanker truck crash. While it seems that the truck lost control while merging onto I-95, it is not clear what specifically caused the accident. It is also unclear how the trucker was killed. The fatal traffic accident remains under investigation.

When the fire was finally put out by responders, only a shell of the tanker remained. Rush hour traffic on I-95 on Wednesday morning was slowed to a crawl for several hours as authorities investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

The Virginia truck accident attorneys at Shapiro & Appleton& Duffan send their condolences to the friends, loved ones, and family of the trucker who lost his life in this tragic crash.
