Truck Blows Tire, Causes Accident in Albemarle County, Virginia | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Two Virginia drivers required medical attention for injuries following an accident on Route 20 near the intersection of Forrest Road in Albemarle County, Virginia.

According to Virginia State Police, a dump truck was traveling along Route 20 outside of Charlottesville when one of the vehicle’s tires blew, causing the driver to lose control of the truck. The vehicle swerved out of its lane and struck a sedan before running off of the road and into the woods, finally coming to a stop when it struck a tree. The sedan also left the roadway and drove deep into the woods.

Emergency workers extracted the dump truck driver was extracted from the vehicle. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to the University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment. Both have since been released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both sides of the two-lane highway were closed as police investigated the accident and cleaned up the wreckage, causing slow traffic in both directions on Route 20. Police say that the Virginia truck accident was caused by the blown tire, not driver error, and that no charges would be filed related to the crash.
