Virginia Beach Personal Injury Law Firm Makes EndDD Presentation to First Colonial High School | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Two attorneys with our Virginia Beach personal injury law firm presented the serious dangers of distracted driving to a packed auditorium at First Colonial High School. The attorneys, Rick Shapiro and Kevin Duffan, spoke to the entire 10th grade class (totaling 520 students).

Rick and Kevin made this presentation for the EndDD campaign. EndDD stands for “End Distracted Driving.” The primary mission of EndDD is to preserve the lives of drivers, both young and old, and to promote safety on a large scale through advocacy, education, and action.

Distracted driving has become a major problem, especially with young drivers. Texting and talking on the phone while driving accounts for nearly 20 percent of deaths in distraction-related auto wrecks. Furthermore, a Virginia Tech study revealed that distracted driving is almost as hazardous as drinking and driving.

Rick and Kevin both have children and understand that the next generation is growing up with smart phones in their hands. They are committed to spreading the message that no text or phone call is worth losing your life in a serious car crash. In addition to the First Colonial presentation, Rick and Kevin made a similar presentation to students at Jamestown High School in Williamsburg, Virginia (VA) back on January 3rd. For more information about the risks associated with distracted driving, take a mometn to download our firm’s legal report on the topic.
