A Virginia man and his brother were killed in a Friday night accident involving a logging truck on a dark road.

According to local news sources, 58-year-old Willie Duncan of Virginia and 57-year-old Willie Deas of South Carolina were driving on Powell Road in Georgetown County at around 9:30 p.m. on Friday night when the truck accident took place. According to South Carolina police, the collision occurred when the commercial logging truck was in reverse and backing into a private drive. The two men approached in a Chevrolet Corvette and could not stop in time to avoid a crash.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene of the truck accident, which took place in the Sampit community. It is unclear if the driver of the logging truck was injured.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team is investigating the accident. No charges have been filed and no rulings have been made as authorities collect evidence and await test results. It is not clear if the logging truck driver has a history of traffic violations or accidents.
