Can Contributory Negligence Prevent You from Filing a Personal Injury Claim?

Virginia and North Carolina continue to adhere to an antiquated legal doctrine known as contributory negligence. Basically, this doctrine holds that if an injured party was partly at-fault for causing an accident, then they can be barred from receiving any compensatory damages, even if their fault was only one percent.
