Children, Adults Die in Pinetops, NC Head-On Collision | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A head-on collision in Pinetops, North Carolina (NC). claimed the lives of two children and two adults. The fatal crash occurred on N.C. Highway 42 between the towns of Rocky Mount and Greenville during the afternoon of November 30, 2014.

According to television station WITN, police suspect one or both of the cars involved in the deadly wreck had been speeding. The driver and two passengers, aged 2 years and 15 years, in a Toyota lost their lives. An adult passenger in the crashed Mazda also died at the scene, while the driver of that car sustained serious injuries and remained hospitalized through the following day.

The initial investigation could not determine which driver was at fault for causing the accident. Regardless of what police eventually discover, the family members of the deceased victims face months and years of difficult emotional recovery. Losing a parent, child or sibling suddenly and unexpectedly can also inflict financial difficulties related to funeral costs and lost wages. Recovering on insurance claims can soften those economic blows, but actually securing settlements and payouts can prove difficult.

Sorting through the insurance issues raised by an automobile accident where both drivers may hold liability, passengers related to the drivers lost their lives and criminal charges might be levied will not be easy. When the greatest shock and sadness of this tragedy ebb, surviving spouses and parents should seek free consultations with experienced Carolina wrongful death attorneys to discuss their options for protecting their rights to secure compensation.

Our condolences go out to the friends and families of the people killed, along with our hopes that the injured driver heals quickly and completely.
