It's terrifying to think that you could be obeying the speed limit, driving defensively, and still be the victim of a deadly accident. Virginia State Police continue to investigate a deadly wreck near Roanoke. The crash occurred near exit 137 on Interstate 81 North Monday night.
Police say a northbound tractor trailer smashed through a guardrail and hit another tractor trailer and a car head-on. The driver of the car, Claudia Cervantes and the driver of the second tractor trailer, John Henry Murphy were both killed. Other people injured in the crash were also taken to the hospital with injuries, but they have not yet been identified.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of the deceased, but we know that trucking accidents have a tendency to be catastrophic, with severe injuries or fatalities being the rule as opposed to the exception.
No charges have been filed yet. But, there are many legal options that are available to victims of a wrong-way driver car crash and the serious risks associated with such reckless driving behavior.
