High-Speed Passenger Rail a Step Closer for Tidewater | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

In his latest post to the Norfolk Injuryboard, my colleague John C. happily reports that elected officials throughout Hampton Roads recently agreed to support a plan to bring high-speed passenger rail to Suffolk, Chesapeake and Norfolk. The proposed line would run from just south of Richmond along Rt. 460 and existing freight tracks operated by Norfolk Southern. Significantly, the trains would link up with Norfolk’s light-rail, the Tide. John sees high-speed rail as a partial solution to Tidewater’s long-standing traffic problems.
