Pedestrian Killed in Accident on Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach

A pedestrian was enjoying a morning walk with his dog when his life came to a sudden end. Investigators have determined that the vehicle responsible for the deadly crash was traveling westbound on Lynnhaven Parkway when it went off the road and hit the pedestrian, a 40-year-old native of Virginia Beach, VA, according to wtkr.com. The vehicle continued off the roadway and ended up coming to a stop in a ditch, according to WAVY.com.

The victim died at the scene of the accident, and our deepest condolences go out to the man's family.

This appears to have been a preventable accident, and it is likely the family is struggling with a combination of emotions -- pain associated with the loss of a loved one and outrage at the circumstances of the accident. They are probably wondering what could have caused the at-fault driver to suddenly veer off the road. Had the person been drinking alcohol? Was he or she distracted? We will have to wait and see what the accident report reveals.

Police continue to investigate the accident, and it remains to be seen whether or not criminal charges will be filed against the at-fault driver.
