Train Strikes Car with Passenger inside in Hickory, North Carolina | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A Hickory, North Carolina man is in critical condition after a train hit the car he was in early Sunday morning. It happened just before 2:30 a.m. at the Union Square crossing at 2nd St. and Main Ave NW in Hickory. The 2010 Dodge Challenger being driven by Cedric Genwright of Lenoir was stopped on the tracks when the train hit it.

Genwright and two of his passengers were able to make it out of the vehicle before the train hit, but Antonio Poston got stuck inside.  The train hit the same side of the car that Poston was sitting on.Poston was taken to Frye Regional Medical Center for his injuries and was later transferred to Wake Forest Baptist University Medical Center.

At last check Poston was in critical but stable condition. Police are still investigating this case. Charges are pending at this point.
