What Happened:

Three people were injured in an accident involving three cars on Jermantown Road in Fairfax, Virginia, at the intersection of Church Street. Jermantown Road was closed temporarily and two of the drivers went to the hospital.

According to City of Fairfax Police, it appeared that one of the drivers was traveling on Jermantown Road, when he apparently suffered a medical emergency. He crossed the yellow line and slammed into an oncoming car, then traveled further down the road and hit a second car.

The condition of the driver with the medical emergency is not known at this time. Jermantown Road was closed for about 90 minutes, according to media reports.

Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

While it is a relief that none of the drivers were seriously injured, this accident shows the importance for all drivers to drive defensively and to be aware of our surroundings. There is simply no way to tell when something might go wrong and require a fast response behind the wheel. The injured drivers should speak to a Virginia personal injury lawyer to evaluate a potential civil case, and to determine what legal avenues may be available.
