Bayer Pharmaceuticals Sued Over Safety Concerns of Birth Control Pills Yaz and Yasmin | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Four separate lawsuits were recently filed against Bayer Pharmaceuticals due to safety concerns relating to two popular birth control pills, Yaz and Yasmin, according to Law.com.

Bayer recently spent $20 million in an ad campaign to correct and clarify the potential side effects associated with taking Yaz and Yasmin. They initiated the campaign after receiving a warning letter from the FDA regarding commercials which insufficiently addressed the side effects of these prescription drugs.

As an injury lawyer who works for a firm which represents clients seriously hurt by prescription medications, this issue is of great concern to me. Bayer needs to come forth with all of the relevant medical data and statistics pertaining to side effects. This is essential for the safety of individuals using either Yaz or Yasmin.

There are over 30 federal lawsuits currently pending against Bayer claiming Yaz or Yasmin caused women to suffer injuries such as heart attacks, strokes, gallbladder disease or death.
