Chain-Reaction Crash on Virginia Avenue Results in Injuries | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A brown pickup truck emblazoned with the words “Roofers R Us” crashed into the back of a stopped vehicle. The collision led to a chain reaction wreck where other vehicles were hit as a result of the force.
Instead of sticking around waiting for the police to show up, the at-fault driver of the pickup truck fled from the scene. According to Herald Mail, the accident resulted in one person suffering injuries. The victim was taken to Meritus Medical Center for treatment. Police are still looking for the driver of the brown pickup truck.

I get so frustrated reading about accidents caused by the careless drivers that result in injuries to innocent victims. But this wreck is even worse since the at-fault driver didn’t even have the decency to stay at the scene of the wreck. Instead, the driver, in an apparent desperate attempt to evade liability, decided to drive off leaving the victims to fend for themselves.

If the hit-and-run driver cannot be found, the injured victim should consider filing a claim against her own policy seeking compensation through something called “uninsured/underinsured motorist” coverage. This type of coverage basically requires your insurance company to fill in for the at-fault driver in the claims process. To learn more about this coverage, take a look at our personal injury law firm’s consumer guide on the topic.
