Hit-and-runs are terrible accidents; in addition to causing potentially serious injury or death, the at-fault driver or drivers leave the scene, potentially endangering other motorists or pedestrians. and failing to account and take responsibility for their own actions. North Carolina law stipulates a “duty to stop in event of a crash,” showing that the responsibility to attend to a crash one has caused is very real and important. Our deepest sympathies are with the family and loved ones of the victim in the crash above, who have not only suffered the pain of losing someone, but had to endure the possibility that those responsible for the victim’s death may have gotten away. The fact that the at-fault drivers were located in something to be celebrated, as they may see justice. As well, the family of the deceased may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim against the hit-and-run drivers’ insurance companies.

Hit-and-runs are all-too-common. If you were injured in a hit-and-run accident, you should consider speaking with a personal injury attorney; we know the ins-and-outs of the laws regarding this behavior.  An injury attorney will be able to help you recover damages against the at-fault driver, such as medical expenses or lost wages. In Virginia Beach, we recently helped a hit-and-run victim recover $250,000 due to the injuries he suffered. Having someone to represent you who understands these types of cases can ensure that you receive just compensation for what you have suffered.
