NC Car Wreck Results in Death of Two Bike Riders | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Two NC bike riders, a father and son, died when the driver of a Buick sedan hit them when they were out on a Sunday bike ride on River Road near Ashley High School in North Carolina (NC), according to WWAYTV3 and WECT.

Reports indicate the driver might have been driving while under the influence of controlled substances. NC law enforcement arrested the driver at the scene for felony death by motor vehicle, cocaine possession, and felony driving while impaired, among other charges.

The father died instantly.  He was also father to twin sons, age 7.  They will now have to live on without a father. The son was in critical condition, rushed to the hospital, and died the night after.  He died 10 days before his 18th birthday. The father and son previously scheduled a trip to Costa Rica to honor the milestone birthday. The son planned to attend East Carolina University in the fall.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of the victims.  It is difficult to think that, in an instant, the father and son passed forever. This NC accident depicted the damage that can occur in a car-bike accident.
