NC Man Charged With DWI After Parking Lot Car Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

We often hear of how dangerous it can be to drink and drive while on North Carolina’s interstates and highways. But in reality, a drunk driver can do serious damage no matter how fast he is going or what kind of street he is on. This week in Burlington, North Carolina, this was proved by a drunk driver who managed to seriously damage two cars as well as a mailbox while driving in a parking lot.

The man, 39-year-old Jason Scott Anthony of Burlington, NC, was driving in the parking lot of a local Majia Auto Sales when he lost control of his vehicle, veered off of the pavement, struck two cars, and damaged property. More specifically, the man was driving a Chevrolet truck west on North Church Street when he ran off the road near Vaughn Road.

When local police arrives, they observed that the man had alcohol on his breath and that he was staggering when he walked. He blew a 0.07 on a breathalizer test – 0.01 below the legal limit in North Carolina. Still, he was charged with driving while impaired and given a $1,500 bond.

Anthony has already had two other DWI incidents in the past – with the last coming just two months ago. Although he was under the legal limit, he was still driving while impaired. Both Anthony’s car and the truck involved in the North Carolina drunk driving accident were totaled, though Anthony was not seriously injured.
