Passenger Killed in Rockingham County Accident

What Happened:

A passenger was killed in a car wreck that occurred on Coopers Mountain Road in Rockingham County, Virginia (VA). The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old teenager, lost control of the car, ran off the right side of the road and wound up slamming into a tree on the passenger side, according to The Breeze.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. He was only 16 years old. Both the driver and the victim were wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck.

Virginia police are investigating this tragic accident, but they indicated that speed may have been a contributing factor.

The Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

Our deepest sympathies go out to the victim’s family. Losing a loved one is never easy, but the pain is even worse when the loss is sudden and the victim had their whole lives ahead of them. The family should consider speaking to a Virginia wrongful death attorney to discuss their legal options. Charges have not been filed as of the date of this posting, but the reports indicate that the driver may have negligently operated the vehicle by speeding.
