West Virginia Pedestrian Killed by Truck

A woman from Kanawha County, West Virginia (WV) lost her life after she was hit by a truck.

Police stated that the accident occurred on US Route 119 near Elkview. Reports indicate that the woman had just gotten off a city bus when she was hit by the truck. The accident occurred near the Elk Crossing Apartments in Pinch, WV. The woman was reportedly visiting her boyfriend.

Deputies stated that the bright sunshine that morning may have contributed to the tragedy. They also were investigating other possible causes, including driver error, speed, mechanical failure and so forth.

An accident reconstruction team was sent to the scene. The investigation continues, as of the date of this posting.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the victim. It is very important for drivers to exercise caution when they approach a public transit vehicle like a city bus. Drivers need to give pedestrians plenty of room to get out of the bus and slow down when approaching these vehicles.
