West Virginia Vehicle Fatalities Higher Than Many Other States | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

According to wboy.com from a study by the WVU School of Public Health, West Virginia sees more fatalities on its roads than many other parts of the United States. The study pointed to the fact that “the Appalachian region accounts for 45 percent of car accident fatalities which is more than the rest of the US.” Some reported that reckless driving is a frequent cause of accidents on West Virginia’s highways; a police officer cited people not checking their blind spots as a big contributor to car wrecks. State police reported there would be more officers on patrol over the Memorial Day weekend.

Here is wboy.com’s report on the story:

Dangerous and reckless driving is indeed a huge contributor to car accidents and fatalities everywhere; we have seen many cases that could have been prevented if the at-fault drivers had simply paid attention to the road or driven more slowly. If you’ve been injured in an accident due to a negligent or reckless driver, you should consider speaking to a personal injury attorney to see about your legal rights to redress.

There are several other things to do in the case of a car accident. The personal injury attorneys at our West Virginia law firm have written an article that explains several key aspects about car accidents and personal injury claims; you can read it here.  For instance, the article explains which types of damages may be recovered in a personal injury claim in most states.

As well, if you’ve been in a car wreck and are attempting to recover medical expenses from the at-fault driver’s insurance company, chances are you’re having trouble getting compensation. That’s not surprising; insurance companies have all sorts of tricks to avoid paying for personal injury claims. Their one desire is to pay less than you have requested, or perhaps nothing at all. The personal injury lawyers at our law firm are very familiar with this type of behavior from insurance companies, so we know how to fight them to recover the most damages. You should seriously consider talking to a personal injury attorney before dealing directly with insurance companies.
