SUV Hits, Kills Woman in Wheelchair in Suffolk, Virginia (VA) | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Rain and darkness may have contributed to a fatal pedestrian accident in Suffolk in which an SUV struck a woman using a wheelchair to cross a busy street. My colleague Emily Mapp Brannon notes in her latest post to the Norfolk Injuryboard, however, that other factors may have played roles in the accident. Drivers are bound by law to yield to pedestrians in marked crosswalks, but pedestrians also must cross streets only when traffic conditions make it safe to do so.
